{"id":5141,"date":"2021-07-23T20:37:47","date_gmt":"2021-07-23T20:37:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bettersleep.org\/?p=5141"},"modified":"2021-07-23T20:37:47","modified_gmt":"2021-07-23T20:37:47","slug":"q2-2021-tracker-results","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bettersleep.org\/research\/q2-2021-tracker-results\/","title":{"rendered":"Consumers Showing Signs of Returning to Some Pre-Pandemic Shopping Behaviors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-5145\" src=\"https:\/\/bettersleep.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Feature-1794x1044_AdobeStock_274989153-1030x599.jpg\" alt=\"Today's Mattress Consumer\" width=\"1030\" height=\"599\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A lot has changed since the Better Sleep Council launched its <a href=\"https:\/\/bettersleep.org\/research\/q4-2020-tracker-results\/\">Inside the Mind of Today\u2019s Mattress Consumer tracking study back in 2020<\/a>. As COVID-19 concerns and restrictions continue to relax, the Q2 2021 study found that people are showing signs of returning to some pre-pandemic attitudes and behaviors. At the same time, other lockdown behaviors appear to be sticking around for now.<\/p>\n<p>For example, people are more willing to shop and buy in-person, although people say they\u2019re still more comfortable shopping online. Interest in buying trusted brands, buying brands that align with the shopper\u2019s values, and shopping local have all made a significant comeback for bedroom product consumers. They also are more willing to try new brands and new retailers than they were earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>As expected, people\u2019s lockdown obsession with optimizing the function and comfort of their homes has leveled off. This may be due to the fact that they are spending less time at home as people return to in-person shopping, school, work, etc.<\/p>\n<p>The easing of concerns and restrictions and the return to some pre-pandemic activities may have also resulted in people starting to sleep better. The number of people who report they are sleeping poorly declined from the previous study, with more people describing their sleep as \u201cgood.\u201d However, there\u2019s still a large minority of people who describe their sleep as \u201cOK\u201d or worse. So, it\u2019s not surprising that good sleep remains consumers\u2019 number one priority \u2013 although for the first time since tracking began, their relationships with other people assumed equal importance.
